By-Products

Through its extensive transportation network and international trading presence, Penny Newman takes the feed by-products market global.  Penny Newman sources by-products from around the world to assure dairy farmers, livestock producers and feed manufacturers the widest variety of quality feed inputs at the lowest price.  Penny Newman offers producers of agricultural products a greater return by offering their by-products to a larger domestic and international market.

Penny Newman warehouses many feed by-products, including whole cottonseed, distillers dried grain, various oilseed meals, and molasses, at its facilities in Hanford, Fresno and Stockton in order to ensure a reliable supply and promote stable markets.  Locally produced by-products, including whole cottonseed, almond hulls, fruit pumice and whey, may be shipped directly from the producers’ facilities.

Cottonseed

Whole cottonseed has seen a large increase in popularity among animal feeders as a single-package source for protein, fiber and fat, particularly as concerns over Mad Cow Disease have led to restrictions on the use of animal-derived proteins and fats in cattle feed.

Penny Newman meets the demand for whole cottonseed with sourcing agreements throughout the mid-south and western cotton belts, and a rail transportation network to move seed efficiently from gins to consumers worldwide.  This has allowed Penny Newman to become the nation’s leading merchandiser of whole cottonseed.

The Memphis office of Penny Newman is responsible for mid-south cottonseed purchases, warehousing, transloading and shipping.  Seed from this region is shipped by rail throughout the United States and to Mexico.  Penny Newman also exports cottonseed via ocean freight through Atlantic ports to numerous international destinations.  Much of the mid-south cottonseed purchased by Penny Newman is brought by rail to California, where Penny Newman maintains storage and shipping facilities in Hanford, Fresno and Stockton.

In California, Penny Newman markets cottonseed from gins throughout the San Joaquin Valley cotton belt.

At its bulk cargo terminal at the Port of Stockton, Penny Newman has imported whole cottonseed via ocean freighter using unloading and warehousing facilities built specifically for this purpose.

Dakota Gold

With the growth in ethanol production in the U.S. has come growth in the supply of its primary by-product, distillers dried grains with solubles, known as DDGS. While long recognizing DDGS as a useful feed component, nutritionists and feed manufacturers have come to recognize that not all DDGS is the same. Nutritional value and product uniformity can vary dramatically.

Dakota Gold-brand Distillers Dried Grain with Solubles offers a uniform particle size, high palatability and nutrient value that have been proven to maximize feed utilization and performance. Dakota Gold is the standard by which other distillers dried grains are measured.

Penny Newman is the exclusive distributor of Dakota Gold DDGS in central California.
