PRODUCT: FULL SPECTRUM C+P

“We started using FULL SPECTRUM C+P three years ago when our orchard was 13 years old. At the time, California was in the third year of a very dry period of hydrology statewide and our irrigation district was extremely reliant on well water for the second year in a row. The water was adding to the overall salinity of the soil and the effects were more pronounced in our trees because of their age relative to other orchards in our area. Leaf tip burn, trees completely drying up and late season leaf defoliation were some of the negative effects.

Our Monterey variety was so stressed from the salty well water that some actually went into a second bloom after harvest. For the first time since planting the trees in 2003, my dad and I began to discuss whether or not we will be able to get 20+ years of production from the trees or if we should begin preparing for removal and replant. As it turned out that wasn’t necessary. In the first year of applying FULL SPECTRUM C+P we noticed immediate improvement in water penetration that led to larger moisture zones. Areas that would have standing water for up to 4 days after irrigations suddenly were reduced to nothing more than wet soil after 24 hours. This created an environment less apt to producing phytophthora and hull rot during the hottest months of the year. Instead we began to notice less dead branches and fewer dead trees.

During the three years we have applied FULL SPECTRUM C+P our annual irrigation increased from “force feeding” the trees 2 acre feet to easily and safely applying 2.6 acre feet in 2019, that is a significant 30% increase. I certainly attribute these factors to this product and look forward to realizing even more benefits from using FULL SPECTRUM C+P into the future.

In addition to the infiltration benefits that FULL SPECTRUM C+P provides, I am spending less on annual input costs. I am saving a net $200 per acre on inputs. I am not using gypsum, sulfur or compost anymore. My petiole reports have never been so in line. Three years ago they showed deficiencies in many areas, causing me to constantly react immediately with expensive products that are designed for instant benefits.

With the added carbon in this product that feeds the microbes in the soil, I am able to use fertilizers more efficiently because the microbes are breaking down the nutrients in the soil that my trees need. Now I am much less “short-term” minded and much more “long-term” minded than ever before. We are using less P and K than before, and we now have the confidence to begin using less N as well. Our almond trees are 16 years old, and we are happy with the results using Penny Newman’s program.

Our yields are back to where they were prior to the years of well water dependency and doing so with 7% fewer trees in the orchard due to death. Basically, we are experiencing a significant swing in production and profitability from the period of stress to where we are today. Maintaining the soil health is something that is going to pay dividends in the future as far as reduced input costs and longevity of the crop you put in and that is a major reason I use FULL SPECTRUM C+P.”

Nate Laux, Primo Farms Grower, PCA/CCA – Porterville, CA

Crop: Washington Navel Oranges (Citrus)

PRODUCT: K-C 70
“We are using this to help increase fruit size. At this time last year, we were averaging a whole lot of 88s and smaller. This year we are seeing improved sized structure with more 56s and 72s. In early December we are already way ahead of the game compared to last year. You really need to bring size to the packer to be profitable and K-C 70 has helped us get to where we need to be. We were astonished to see our brix levels at 10-11 at this time of year. We are planning to go to a full program with Penny Newman next year.”
Efficient nutrient uptake and healthier crop!

“This ground has been in my family since 1965 and it has historically not drained well. It is what we call Porterville red dirt. We have tried calcium and gypsum to no avail. After our first injection of FULL SPECTRUM C+P we have seen immediate improvements in water penetration within a couple of days after application. Within 3-4 days, most of the holes and ruts that were typically full of water were drained. With the carbon in it feeding the microbes in the soil, we are starting to see more microbial activity. Instead of buying microbes, what we call bugs in a bucket, we are seeing them come back on their own. The water-run application method of this product is incredibly inexpensive for us. We are still early in the program but we are definitely seeing changes in movement that we have not historically seen in the past.”
Maximum water penetration and cost savings!

PRODUCT: FULL SPECTRUM C+P + K-C 70 Combined
“With this ranch, there are trees that are dying and have started to come back. At this rate, a lot of our trees are appearing to have more life in them. We are moving away from our traditional injections and we want to use larger injections of FULL SPECTRUM C+P and K-C 70. With the carbon feeding the microbiology in the soil, we are letting mother nature and the microbes in the soil mine the nutrients that we need. The microbiology is opening up new channels in the ground for minerals to be extracted. With the water run injections of these products, we are able to reduce our costs such as potassium foliar spraying and spreading gypsum. Additionally, we are achieving fruit sizing and brix levels that line us up harvesting at price premiums.”
Efficient nutrient uptake + reduced input and application costs!

Arie Dejong, Mountain View Farming – Grower – Visalia, CA

Crops: Navel & Valencia Oranges (Citrus) + Olives

PRODUCT: FULL SPECTRUM C+P
“We have been applying FULL SPECTRUM C+P for 3 years. We no longer use gypsum and have better water penetration overall. In the wet season of 2018/19 we had excellent water absorption in our citrus orchard. During that year of heavy rainfall, it was the first time we have not had to pump out water from our catching pond, which meant more water staying on our fields to feed our trees. We have not pumped our catch basins since we started using FULL SPECTRUM C+P.”
Maximum water penetration and better drainage!

PRODUCT: FULL SPECTRUM C+P
2018 was an off production year for our 26×26 planted olives. Historically an off year will yield about 1 ton to the acre, but after two growing seasons of applying FULL SPECTRUM C+P we yielded just under 2.5 tons to the acre in 2018.
Increased yields!

PRODUCT: FULL SPECTRUM C+P | K-C 70
“Potassium is one of the hardest nutrients to get into the tree, it doesn’t move well in the soil without good water flow. Potassium is very important for fruit size, rind quality and the tree’s ability to withstand the heat in summer. KC-70 is soil-applied, but gets into the tree fast. I can see it in my leaves in a few days. Follow up leaf and soil analysis show better K availability than we get from KTS or 0-0-60 applications.”
Efficient nutrient uptake!

“I’m using FULL SPECTRUM C+P in my citrus blocks that tested positive for phytophthora. Trees that used to be bare on a third of the limbs now have flush coming out of the woody tissue. I have seen a drastic difference in the overall health of my trees with FULL SPECTRUM C+P.”

“Carbon Penetrant has opened the soil and allows my irrigation water to go into the ground. It used to take 1 ½ days to soak in the ground. Now it’s down in 5-6 hours after I turn off the water. With better water penetration, I’ve seen a marked increase in my tree growth.”
